Why Recovery Stretching?

Recovery Stretching at PRIME Fitness Academy is an active stretching class that targets primary muscle groups surrounding the hips, hamstrings and upper back. Living in a forward facing, seated world, these areas tend to be tight for everyone. These muscles are commonly very tight and over worked each and every day. This causes a major imbalance in the body which slowly pulls your body out of alignment.

As with any class or training session we offer, this class begins with warm-up movements to build heat within the muscle to make it more pliable for stretching. Most of this class is performed on the floor and held for a minimum of 30 seconds and held no more than 1-2 minutes. Holding poses for longer periods of time and focusing on breath gives the body time to fully relax and allow a deeper stretch.
